With Cody's Mom: Visiting the Mormon Battalion Visitor's Center in San Diego

On June 13th we were able to visit the Mormon Battalion in San Diego where we got a few pictures.  An interesting side note is that both of us have ancestors that served in or walked with the Mormon Battalion.

On Valrie's side, two of her 3rd Great-Grandfathers served in the battalion and their children married.  They were Pvt. Wilford Heath Hudson and Pvt. Edward Hunter.  We also believe that Pvt. George Coleman was likely her 4th Great-Uncle and Musician William Hunter was likely her 3rd Great-Uncle as well.

On Cody's side, his 3rd Great-Grandfather, Pvt. Samuel Hollister Rogers served in the Mormon Battalion.  Two of his 3rd Great-Uncles, Pvt. Henry Pike Hoyt and his brother Pvt. Timothy Sabin Hoyt also served in the battalion.  In addition, a servant in the Mormon Battalion, Zemira Palmer, is his 3rd Great Grandfather and his mother Phoebe Brown (Draper) is Cody's 4th Great-Grandmother.   As a result, 2nd Sgt Ebenezer Brown is his 4th Step-Great Grandfather, and his son, Pvt. John Brown, his 3rd Step-Great Uncle.  Zemira Palmer was one of the narrators at the Mormon Battalion Visitor's Center.  Here are the pictures:
